Joanna Brownstein- MBA, MSW, LICSW
Joanna brings over 20 years of leadership in the healthcare and health technology sectors. With a career spanning academia, pharmaceuticals, consulting, and entrepreneurial ventures, Joanna is well-equipped to tackle the complexities of growing organizations. Her past roles have included key positions in product and customer success at notable companies like Kyruus, Medically Home, and Navya Network, as well as operational roles at Novartis and Harvard Medical School. In addition to her consulting and advising roles with companies, Joanna leads Succeed Studio, a boutique executive coaching practice that addresses the unique needs of entrepreneurs and senior leaders.
In addition to her consulting roles, Joanna serves on the Board of Directors for Addgene, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting scientific collaboration. She also actively advises startups in the behavioral health technology space and is a mentor for the MIT Sloan Healthcare Lab, lending her expertise to the next wave of innovators in healthcare.

Karen Katz, JD, MA, LMHC
Karen Katz brings a unique blend of legal and clinical expertise to the field of behavioral health. Karen’s early legal career involved working at the top-tier law firm Crowell & Moring, where she specialized in insurance defense work for the American Psychiatric Association. Her role led to a secondment at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Washington, D.C., one of the nation’s largest public psychiatric hospitals at the time. There, she managed civil and criminal commitment hearings and was involved in court-ordered de-institutionalization cases.
Karen continued to diversify her career, working at esteemed institutions such as Hale & Dorr, Todd & Weld, Suffolk University Law School, and MIT. Her most recent role as Deputy Director of the Office of Behavioral Health at MassHealth during the last year of the Baker Administration further solidified her credentials in behavioral health policy and management.
Education and Credentials
A graduate of Boston University School of Law, she served on law review and clerked on the prestigious First Circuit Court of Appeals. Her transition into the clinical realm is anchored by a master’s in counseling, earned in 2020 from Cambridge College.

Josh Bornstein, B.A.
Josh Bornstein has nearly 20 years of investing experience in early-stage companies across a variety of sectors. Josh was mentored by Neill Brownstein (co-founder of Bessemer Venture Partners and co-managing partner for 25 years) while at Footprint Ventures. Josh led deal sourcing at Footprint Ventures and co-founded Montane Ventures where he principally focused on investing in early-stage healthcare and SaaS companies with engineering teams in India building for the US market. He also invested in consumer products start-ups (the most notable being Hector Beverages with ~$100 million of revenue) targeting the emerging Indian middle class. Josh exited Montane when he moved back to the US from India.
Josh most recently oversaw strategy, go to market, and operations at Navya Network, an AI cancer workflow startup with early customers such as Memorial Sloan Kettering.
As a Board member in the healthcare space, Josh worked with the founders of Hybrent to realign the company's strategy from a monthly SaaS subscription to a B2B e-commerce procurement platform targeting ambulatory surgery centers. Hybrent proceeded to grow its e-commerce gross merchandise value from zero to $2 billion in 18 months before being acquired by Serent Capital. Montane also invested in Remidio and assisted the company entering the US market with its AI ophthalmology device and software.
